2019 BIKE FOR KF
Kuctekela Foundation’s 11th annual Bike for KF fundraising event took place this past October and was a great success, raising nearly $22,000 for KF students!
The work KF does is truly life-changing for our students. 100% of donations go directly to KF students as all expenses are covered by the KF Board of Trustees.
Below is a video that the students of KF in Zambia created for the riders and donors of Bike for KF, expressing their deep appreciation.
Nelly Makondo
Nelly seems to have a strong ambition for teaching, drawing inspiration from her teacher Mrs. Hildah. She explained how teachers are a blessing and the foundation in formal education. She hopes to contribute greatly to the education sector by helping to eradicate illiteracy.
Jackson Banda
Jackson is one of the most brilliant students at St. Lawrence Primary School. His academic prowess earned him the position of class monitor so that he can not only assist the teachers with maintaining order but also encourage and assist her peers with academics.
Clariss Mwape
Clariss has attended Mount Makulu Primary School since Grade 1. Maintaining first position in class, Clariss was appointed as class monitress and maintained order in the absence of the teacher. Her strong academic standing was also evident in the KF exam where she placed third.
Catherine Mumbi
Catherine hoped to get the KF scholarship so that her family can be assisted financially and so that she can achieve her goals in life. In her community, she hopes to one day help build a drainage system because its current condition is bad.
Francis Siboli
Francis appears to be a very smart and responsible student. Francis seems to possess natural leadership. He believes one does not have to wait to be told what to do but should take it upon themselves to improve circumstances around them. This explains why Francis taught himself how to read. He began to teach himself how to read and write at a very tender age.
Tawanda Neba
During group interviews, Tawanda explained that his mother struggles financially and that even at a young age, he would try to assist her to provide for the household. He decided to raise funds to help the family by selling Freezits in his community. He only stopped when the refrigerator was sold due to financial constraints.
“KF has done a lot for me such that it is hard to single out one thing but I can say KF is my tap root and without it I would wither in the shortest time possible.”
— Iwell Banda, KF Class of 2011
Iwell graduated with a degree in Physiotherapy from Evelyn Hone College. He is currently employed as a tutor, physical development coach and Student Volunteering Coordinator at Our Moon Education in Lusaka.
